The Story
Château de Villette, known as Le Petit Versailles, offered a setting that holds up to its name. Manicured French gardens, a still lake reflecting the golden autumn light, and interiors that carry centuries of refinement. Every detail of this celebration spoke to a sophistication that does not need to announce itself.

Château de Villette is called Le Petit Versailles, and the comparison is not marketing. The same architect, Jules Hardouin-Mansart, designed both. The same landscape architect, André Le Nôtre, laid out both gardens. When you stand in the formal parterre facing the facade, the proportions and the perspective create an effect that is both grand and deeply personal. As a Château de Villette wedding photographer, I find that this duality is what makes the venue exceptional. It impresses without overwhelming. It holds the couple rather than competing with them.
The interiors were restored by Jacques Garcia, and each room has its own light personality. The bridal suite with its sage green armoire catches soft morning light that wraps around everything with diffused warmth. The reception salon transitions from golden daylight to candlelight as the evening progresses, and that shift creates a natural arc in the gallery that feels cinematic without any intervention from me.
The defining moment of every Château de Villette wedding I photograph happens at the lake during the hour before sunset. The couple walks from the ceremony through the formal gardens down to the water, and the transition is visual storytelling at its most natural. The structured parterre gives way to softer parkland, the light turns amber, and the chateau rises in the background reflected in the water. Those images feel like they belong in another century, and they are consistently the ones couples choose to frame.
